Mask Speak
Without knowing what a face will look like, I begin with a sense of who it will be. Every mask starts the same way and the idea of an archetype or persona changes as it grows into its final form. I have a feeling that someone is waiting, but have very little concept of the finished piece. I add pieces of natural ephemera and it all eventually finds its way into a three-dimensional portrait.
